(from Dunbar Rowland’s "Military History of Mississippi, 1803-1898"; company listing courtesy of H. Grady Howell’s "For Dixie Land, I’ll Take My Stand’)

With General Ruggles, commanding First Military District, headquarters Columbus, April, 1863. Participated in the action of Genera1 Chalmers' command with Bryant's Federal command on the Coldwater, in March.

[Note: There are several Capts. Johnson who commanded Mississippi Cavalry companies during the war. It is impossible to tell from the above evidence exactly which company "Johnson’s Cavalry Company" is.]
